Cordura® fabric is a collection of fabrics qualified by Invista for use in a wide array of products from luggage and backpacks to boots, military wear and performance apparel. Cordura® brand fabrics are recognized for their long-lasting durability and resistance to abrasions, tears and scuffs.

Cordura makes heavy duty nylon fabric which come in different grades and weights.  In many of the bags we carry, 1000 Denier(1000D) Cordura fabric is used which is a rugged American made fabric.

This fabric is sprayed with a Polyurethane coating on one side for superior water resistance.

While the manufacturer doesn't specifically claim that their product is, most Cordura fabrics are either extremely water resistant or waterproof. This is due to the fact that Cordura fabrics are largely made up of Nylon66, an extremely durable and waterproof material, or of other types of Nylon that are water resistant.

This fabric comes in many colors which is another reason why some of the bag makers we work with use Cordura, allowing for many styles and bag customization.

The Cordura website suggests the following for cleaning the fabric:
Products made with CORDURA® fabrics are made to last, and are generally easy to care for. First, always look for and follow the garment care label instructions.

Upholstery/Backpacks/Luggage: Soil may be removed with spray cleaner or detergent and water. Avoid chlorine or bleach based cleansers.
